Flower Power

It’s probably the one trend that you, your mom, and Janis Joplin can all agree on. Flower accents are timeless, feminine, and whimsical. When done right. We can retire the neon, the muted mauve, the bellbottom, and bask in the glow of tiny nail art and dainty flower head bands.
2013 spring brings loads of florals to the runway, from Rochas demure lavender boyfriend blazer to Moschinos 60’s inspired apron dress. Try a simple cutout contrast like Richard Chai Love’s short beach frock or go bold full black and white prints like Naeem Khan’s mermaid gown.
Can’t afford the designer brands? Have your mom give you a refresher course on sewing this summer. Add your favorite flower print to denim cut off shorts or on a side inset of an old flowy tee. Or create your own prints at Get inventive and cut your fave floral fabric (say that 5 times fast) into shreds and braid your own headbands or bracelets.
Sassy florals make you fearless while still staying feminine. Mixing prints is totally encouraged. The secret is to do it shamelessly with two fabulous contrasting prints. Stay with neutral earthy undertones with that pop of pink or chartreuse.
Now your rose garden is fully prepped to hit up that music festival, traipse around your city, or bask in the summer sun!
